It's only July - there's still time! (To travel, that is.) Yup - another Chloe-list, and this one will give you the travel-bug for sure. iExplore travel brings you the 'Top Ten Summer World Travel Destinations for Cultural Exploration' as surveyed by tourists and adventurists. (In other words, these places are so amazing that people ranted and raved about them...and also bought a lot of souvenirs.)

1. The Pyramids, Egypt - I'm pretty sure this will ALWAYS be on the 'Must-See' list for all humans.

2. Machu Picchu, Peru - Ooohhhh, recently named one of the world's newest '7 Wonders.'

3. Thailand - Said to have one of the most "exotic and vivid" cultures of the world. (and AMAZING food!)

4. Madagascar - No, not quite like the movie...but still a beautiful island.

5. Great Wall, China - Really? It can be seen from space? I'm not sure what I would rather do; see the real wall, or check it out from the moon.

6. Jerusalem, Israel - The site lists lists lists amazing places to visit, including the Wailing Wall, the Dome of the Rock, and the church of the Holy Sepulchre.

7. Taj Mahal, India - Not only is 'Taj Mahal' one of my favorite musicians, it's one of my 'Have to See' - landmarks! (Going to one of his concerts wouldn't be bad either...)

8. Tunisia - Even though it's the smallest country in North Africa, heading to Tunisia will give you a great view of beaches, the Sahara desert, and sets from Star Wars.

9. Vietnam - "Only in Vietnam is the past and the present encapsulated so perfectly." The site sums it up perfectly...

10. Japan - YES! I love the Japanese culture...the music-scene, the fashion-scene, the cuisine! It truly is a departure from our familiar lives...

What are YOUR travel plans for this summer? Any trips coming up? How have past travel-experiences been? Where would YOU go off of this list?

  1. Hmm...out of these, would definitely go to Japan and India, China-no, Vietnam-no, Thailand-yes, Madagascar-maybe, the Pyramids-absolutely. Been to Jerusalem several times (btw, good luck getting into the Dome of the Rock--it's forbidden to non-Muslims...we Jews are less picky about the Temple Mount and the Wailing Wall...the Church of the Holy Sepulchre is beautiful). Machu Pichu, sure, why not.

I have no travel plans this summer...just going back to Arkansas for college middle of next month.

  2. i can't wait to hit every single one of these places in the future. hopefully - if it all works out, i'll get the chance. i do know that plans change, but traveling is one thing that i'm NOT going to sacrifice in this life...:)

That's an interesting one, Jeremiah: Why is the dome of the rock closed to non-Muslims?

  3. Intolerance, for the most part. Muslims there believe that infidels have no right to view what is Islamic if they will not accept Islam. And sadly, the Israeli government panders to their BS.

  4. Have you seen the pictures that Nick Harmer took in Japan? So beautiful. And my friend Ryan went to Machu Pichu and said it was breathtaking. I'm thinking about joining my school trip to China...How amazing. The culture is just so different from ours that it would be eye-opening to see

  5. The Great Wall of China was so amazing! I would definitely recommend going to China and touring not only The Great Wall but also the Summer and Winter Palaces.
