Bring on the cake!...

So it's finally vacation time! Well...this isn't really a vacation, I would say. (Not like Katie livin' it up in sweet California!) But its close to a vacation. Its my cousin's wedding weekend in Walla Walla, Washington. A really terrible alliteration, I know...but true.

In addition to having rehersal dinner under our belts, we got the bridesmaid dresses, the cake, even the flower petals to chuck down aisle all under control. Everything seems to be coming together pretty well! That got me thinking..."What do our Voxxers and readers think about weddings?....."

So there's your question: What's the modern-day importance of a wedding? Do you have a "dream-day"? Music? Food? Location? Ladies: Have you been planning since childhood? Guys: Do you still not care so much about the details?

  1. I think that Guys are often made to look like they don't care about wedings but i say that i care and i want to make my girls wedding everything that she has dreamed about no matter how much work it is!!!

  2. And then you have people like my cousin Eric, who spends 6 years ranting and raving about how he loves a girl, marries her, gets her pregnant, and then, like the deadbeat he is, runs off on her. So yeah, some guys don't care.

Me: I want to get married on the beach at Eilat in Israel...preferably a Conservative wedding, but I'll leave that to G-d. Food...eh, let's go with the old classics: knishes, kishkas, cold cholent, carrot tzimmes...and just to make my grandma happy, cake filled with marionberries. Music can be whatever the missus wants (I look at it this way: I can't carry a tune to save my life, so why bother?).

  3. You guys are totally right - The groomsmen are almost ALWAYS made out to look like they don't care...when often, (like at the wedding I just got back from...) they care ALOT!

It's so cool to see the couple actually work together and plan the 'big event'...imagine that, working together when you're in a relationship!..:) But it really is cool - and definitely comes together beautifully. (and with some darn good cake...:D)

  4. I'm not generally a girlie-girl, but when it comes to my wedding, I have a vision. Chloe already knows I have a slammin indie-rock wedding playlist and I'm thinking I'll wear white with a cool colored sash. I won't bore you with anymore details except that Duff from Ace of Cakes WILL be baking my wedding cake!

  5. Heck yes to DUFF!! :D ahhh! Not only will the playlist be amazing, (I will most definitely be hitting the dance floor!) but the CAKE will rock too!

Maybe Duff could rig you a jaw-dropping cake that could play music...hmmm..I can see it now: A delicious little cake that plays the tune to "Talking Bird"...
